Y'all. We cannot help but notice the HSM Reunion special is on tonight. We even interrupted our usual ongoing text conversation about The Great British Baking Show and stretchy jeans to discuss all the press.

Pasta: We should probably tweet or something?
Pasta: I don't know. I'm so old.
M: Oh right. We have a Twitter.
M: I just checked our Twitter. We have one follower.

Our even more aged hearts crack open a little with nostalgia. They're still all in this together! Except for Zac.

(Are any of you still on LJ? Is this thing still on? Are we posting to the void? Does a post exist if you don't include a bunch of gifs? God, we are so old. We think maybe you're all on Tumblr now.)

(BTW... we do not believe the rumor that Zac declined to participate tonight because he demanded $500,000 and Disney refused to pony up. We believe that things are awkward with V since the break-up, and they probably agreed she gets to keep HSM in the divorce.)

(Also, we believe there's a group chat with everyone but Zac. Have you seen these reunion photos? They look crazy happy. We think they might actually be friends. Except for Zac because everyone chose V. Which we probably would not have predicted 10 years ago. Which goes to show you that we were dumb.)

So, in honor of our joy, please enjoy this Buzzfeed article featuring 49 Things You Didn't Know About HSM. We particularly like the story of Grabeel and the Tizz auditioning together. (Also, we've noticed mainstream media has adopted our nickname for Le Tisdale, but they're misspelling it with an 's'. To whom do we address our angry letter??)

Hope y'all are well. Happy Anniversary!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled indefinite hiatus to bring you the following Very Important News.

No, we are not starting a new blog. Today, anyway. We have plenty of tracks and trails all over the Interwebs, thankyouverymuch.

For the most part, we're out of the game, you know. And we're happy being serious faced little adults who responsibly watch mature television programming such The Good Wife or Modern Family or whatever.  But then we're at dinner with our like-minded adult friends and they're like, "Oh, yeah, some Disney kid checked herself into rehab because a Jonas broke up with her."

Are you guys actually still out there?Collapse )

Yep, it's true. We've been playing around at Tumblr, on a new site we're calling Meg Cablog. It's low energy, and if you feel like hanging out with us, come visit!

By now, you've all seen the Zac Efron's Pool Party video on FunnyorDie.com, but in case you haven't... see under the cut.Anyone have a tequila and Snapple?Collapse )
There's a few golden moments, not least of which when lonelygirl doubtfully inquires if Nicole Sullivan's Randi (with an "i") gets internet where she's from.  But there was one moment that led me to guffaw aloud and cheer a little bit.  I think you know the one.

There it is!  The look we always knew The Hudge would patent, given her own cop show and good cop/bad cop routine with Tizz!  The hostile look of superior disdain and barely contained disgust lives! And that speculative little eyebrow raise right after? Yes!

Could have done without her shrill screech about poop to her "Babe" at the end, but otherwise... well-played, Hudge.  True that you continue to coast along on Zac's coattails, but you may as well enjoy the ride, eh?</div>

Thanks for commenting on the Zac: Act 2 post. Vanessa's entry will be coming later today, assuming I get all my ducks in a row. And- spoiler alert- it's a doozy.

A couple of quick notes:

1) Zac may be hosting SNL on April11... If we don't see Vanessa in the audience, I will eat my flip flops. Also, this gives creedence to our theory that this Zac kid just might make it. So looking forward to the inevitable HSM parody skit. I feel like Seth Meyers could do a good Ryan and Kristen Wigg could nail Sharpay. Make it happen!

2) I didn't realize "The Climb" was sung by Miley until I saw the commercial for her movie last night. Seriously, I thought it was a Hanson-type boy group. Now that I know it's her, I can hear it... but does anyone else think she sounds a bit pre-adolescent boyish? Especially in the verses?

Poll #1372409 Miley or Hanson?

So, do you agree with me??

Yes! Thank you for voicing my thoughts!
Now that you mention it, yes!
Nah, I don't hear it.

The last curtain has dropped. The DVD is released. All 6 stars have declined to return for a fourth installment. It looks like HSM, as we know it, has come to an end. So as the Big Six take their bows, we wonder… is there a second act? Pasta and I have been exchanging e-mails on the subject and have put together our guide to prognosticating the future of the HSM stars. Over the next week or so, expect a post on each star with lovely graphics by Pasta and commentary from both of us.  Let’s look into the crystal ball, shall we?

What better way to start than the leader of the pack...

What's Next for Zac Efron?

Zac burst onto the screen with his gap toothed good looks and won us all over with Drew Seeley's intoxicating vocal  arrangements. But what is next for the affable legend?

Zachary David Alexander Efron

Special talents

"I just fell in love with theater, and after being so focused on  school my whole life and musical theater, specifically, being my creative outlet, I can't believe that it has turned into something  more than that. I'm grateful and thankful and amazed at how it's all  turned out. I'm still on the craziest ride of my life."

I wish I could go back in time to the night of the meet and greet following the HSM concert in Vegas. It was a simpler time. Zanessa was just a well-founded rumor. Tizz had blond hair. Corbin didn't look like he might be leading poetry slams. MoCo just had coffee with us and shared secrets that made us squee.  And Lu still allowed himself to be photographed with his co-stars.   But that's not why I want to go back.

No, I want to go back because I would give anything to follow the little girls presenting homemade posters and baked goods to their favorite stars, lean across the table, and hand Tizz the following item:

Need a closer look?

Should you also wish to partake of the fruits of the Tisdale winery, you can find it at Whole Foods in Cab, Merlot, or White Zinfindel for a mere five bucks a bottle  I chose Shiraz because I think it's what Tizz would do; it has a "Z" in the name.   The cost would suggest that Tisdale has the distinction of being the Whole Foods version of Trader Joe's Two Buck Chuck.   Tizz should be so proud!

Seriously, guys, I had a very embarassing public exhibition of fangirl glee when I ran across the four foot wide display featuring Tisdale wine. Viva la Tizz!

About a week ago, Pasta sent me an e-mail saying simply, "I really want to see this."

And the more I research it, the more I do too. Check the trailer just released by Fox:

Divas getting dramatic? Venereal disease? This looks like the HSM we only dreamed of!

This actually  looks like a hybrid of High School Musical, the little know 90210 parody Gross Pointe, and maybe a touch of Tina Fey's Mean Girls with a splash of Election. It's getting pretty positive buzz, and you would have to be living under a rock or in Canada to miss the multiple previews shown during American Idol.  According to the link Pasta sent me, it's also attracting actors seeking guest roles like a Jonas brother in a  Claire's Boutique.   And, according to an article in the LA Times, it's actually going to feature Top 40 songs like Rehab. Sounds like a winner!
